How Much Did My DIY Volkswagen Caddy Camper Van Conversion Cost? | COST BREAKDOWN
What’s the cost to convert a Volkswagen caddy into a campervan?
So what is the Volkswagen caddy camper cost? I have converted 2 Volkswagen caddy maxi’s into micro campers. And I am now currently converting my third caddy maxi. The first two vans cost me around £500 to convert. However, these vans were converted in 2020 and 2021. In today’s world we all know that prices are ever increasing. So I believe that if you are looking to convert a Volkswagen caddy van into a camper in 2023, it’s going to cost you around £500 – £1000.
In this video I go through two VW caddy maxi van conversions and break down all the costs.

Here’s a breakdown of some of the costs you can expect:
Van
The first cost you’ll need to consider is the cost of the van itself. The cost of the van can vary depending on the year, model, and condition. On average, a Volkswagen Caddy’s can cost between £4,000 to £15,000.
Conversion Type
The type of conversion you choose will also affect the overall cost of the project. There are two main types of conversions: DIY and professional. DIY conversions can cost anywhere from £500 to £2,000, depending on the materials used and the level of customization. Professional conversions can cost anywhere from £5,000 to £25,000 or more, depending on the company and the level of customization. So as you can see doing it yourself will save a considerable amount of money!
Materials
The materials you use for your conversion will also impact the cost. Some of the common materials include insulation, flooring, cabinets, and electrical components. The cost of these materials can range from a few hundred pounds to several thousand pounds, depending on the quality and quantity of the materials.
Additional Costs
There may be additional costs to consider, such as the cost of adding windows, a pop-top roof, or a solar panel system. These costs can add up quickly and should be factored into your budget.
