EXPLORING The BRECON BEACONS and South WALES | Four Waterfalls Hike – Micro Camper Van Life!
We headed to the Brecon Beacons in our Volkswagen caddy maxi camper. From here we headed to Symonds Yat as well.
Taking on the Brecon Beacons Horseshoe – a 10 mile circular route taking in Corn Du and Pen Y Fan. A beautiful route – one that I’d definitely recommend! Park at the Cwm Gwdi car park and follow the concrete path up towards the peaks, you should find an information board with a map on. The path splits in two and you can take either to get to the top, we veered slightly left and reached a number of false ridges before Pen Y Fan came into view. Once you see the peaks, it’s pretty straight forward to reach the top. The last part is quite a steep scramble so just take your time! Once you’ve reached Pen Y Fan, you can go towards the right and head towards Corn Du. From here you can see the lake called Llyn Cwm Llwch, which you can hike to and swim in. We stopped there for lunch before continuing down the hill into a wooded area with a river, and eventually onto a lane. This snakes round and back to the car park.
The four waterfall trail is a 6km circular loop which cuts through the ancient woodland of the Brecon Beacons and stops by four spectacular waterfalls, including the magnificent Sgwd yr Eira, a waterfall which you can stand directly behind.
